BACKSTORY

Gil’s mother is a river monster from River Shannon in Ireland and his father is from River Tay in Scotland.

They met in River Shannon in Ireland when Tay was on a business trip, and fell in love. Shannon moved back to Scotland with Tay. While living together, Shannon became pregnant with Gil. However, normies began reporting sights of river monsters and began sending fisherman out to catch any that they could find.

Because of this, Gil’s parents immigrated to America to escape the risk of being found. They settled in Lake Superior, where Gil would be born.

Gil grew up solely around freshwater monsters. Due to his parents’ prejudice, he was never allowed to have saltwater friends and was taught that they were bad monsters. Gil always sort of knew that what his parents told him was wrong, but he did develop an irrational fear of the ocean due to this.

Around middle school age, Gil heard about the Monster school programs in Massachusetts through some of his friends. With the desire to move and explore more of the monster world, he asks his parents if they could move. They agree, believing that maybe it would be a safer environment and moved to Quabbin Reservoir.

However, they instructed Gil to not befriend any saltwater creatures.

He started befriending her from the Swim Team, and learned through her that his parents’ rumors were simply not all true.

He and Lagoona grew feelings for eachother, and started dating secretly.
